CurrentReport Blog The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has successfully intercepted 21 exotic cars stolen from Canada, valued at several billions of naira. The high-profile vehicles include a Rolls Royce, Lamborghini Huracan, and Mercedes-AMG GT, among others, recovered during operations across Lagos and Rivers State.
The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, revealed this during a press briefing on Tuesday. He stated that the vehicles were seized at locations including Lekki, Tin-Can Island in Lagos, and Onne Port in Rivers State.
The recovered cars include:
- Three 2021 Toyota Highlanders
- One Lamborghini Huracan (2019 model)
- One Mercedes-AMG GT
- One Mercedes-Benz G550
- One Rolls Royce
- Two Range Rovers (2023 and 2018 models)
- A Range Rover Sport
While handing over the stolen cars to Canadian authorities, Adeniyi emphasized the NCS’s commitment to curbing vehicle trafficking. He highlighted that West Africa has become a hub for stolen vehicle networks, citing INTERPOL reports linking these operations to regions such as Europe, North America, South America, and Australia.
“Over the past several months, we have intensified our operations against vehicle trafficking syndicates operating within our borders,” Adeniyi said.
This interception marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s fight against organized crime and illegal importation networks.
