CurrentReport Blog The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) marked a significant milestone this past weekend as the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, celebrated the graduation of officers from the rigorous Senior Course 10. This momentous event took place at the NCS Command and Staff College in Gwagwalada, Abuja, where Adeniyi urged the newly graduated officers to uphold their roles as exemplary ambassadors of the Service.
In a statement delivered by Customs’ spokesman Abdullahi Maiwada, Adeniyi emphasized the importance of continuous learning and dedication. He praised the officers for their commitment during the six-month training, highlighting how their newfound skills and knowledge are pivotal to enhancing the Service’s operations.
Adeniyi’s address to the graduates was a call to action. He stressed the necessity for the officers to leverage their training in addressing critical functions such as border security, anti-smuggling efforts, and revenue generation.
“It is a great honour and privilege to be back in this prestigious institution and to be part of this graduation ceremony of Senior Course 10 today,” said Adeniyi. “It is without a doubt that you have spent six months having rigorous training that will equip you to add value to the Service. I congratulate you for your commitment, which has led us to today’s occasion.”
He urged the graduates to implement their training effectively and positively impact the nation’s customs operations. Adeniyi also reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare and efficiency of both the officers and the directing staff at the college.
The Commandant of the College, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Kingsley Egwuh, conferred the title of Pass Senior Course (PSC) on the graduates. In his address, he encouraged them to embody the teachings of the college in their future assignments.
“With permission of the Special Guest of Honour, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, I stand here before you with joy to confer you all with this title, and I want to implore you to practice what you have learned as you go back to your respective Commands,” Egwuh said.
Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies, Comptroller Oluyomi Adebakin, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the quality of the training and its importance in maintaining high moral and professional standards within the Service.
“I have no doubts in my mind that considering the quality of training you have received, you all will be good ambassadors of the College and the Service at large. I wish to implore you to exhibit your competence to your subordinates when you go back to your places of work,” Adebakin asserted.
In a show of honor and tradition, the college hosted a regimental dinner night on June 5, 2024, celebrating the graduates’ accomplishments. Representing the Comptroller-General at the dinner, Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs Beatrice Nwafor lauded the officers for their dedication and perseverance.
“You are now as strong as eagles. You are, therefore, expected to keep soaring higher,” Nwafor told the graduates, emphasizing the transformative experience of their training and the potential it unlocks for their future roles in the NCS.
