CurrentReport Blog The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, has emphasized the necessity of spiritual solutions to address the myriad problems facing Nigeria. Speaking on Sunday, Oba Akanbi called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors, and other public officeholders to seek divine intervention during these challenging times.
During a reception held in his honor by the Alu-Sunnah Islamic organization in Iwo, following his return from Saudi Arabia, the monarch underscored the importance of relying on God. He affirmed that Nigeria’s leaders need to turn to God to navigate the nation’s difficulties successfully.
“I have never doubted President Tinubu’s good intentions to fix Nigeria,” Oba Akanbi stated. “However, our future will only change for the better if all political leaders at national, state, and local levels seek the face of God.”
The monarch pointed out that Saudi Arabia’s economic stability, despite global challenges, is due to their reliance on divine guidance. “Today, there is no country in the world where there are no economic challenges except in Saudi Arabia. This is so because they place all their affairs in God’s hands and trust in God. The President should also do the same. Even the governors, senators, all political leaders, everybody must resign to God,” he added.
In his speech, the Executive Secretary of Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Professor Muslih Tayo Yahya, lauded Oba Akanbi for his unwavering commitment to Islam and his role as a commendable ambassador of the faith, both within Nigeria and internationally. He praised the traditional ruler’s actions during his pilgrimage to Mecca and called for unity among the Muslim community.
“The entire Ummah here is uniting behind Oluwo, a traditional ruler who believes in the tenets of Islam and the oneness of God,” Professor Yahya remarked. “I call on all Ummah to unite together and live together in peace, even with the people of other religions but we must not be cowards to do what Allah has commanded us.”
