Nigerian Government Unveils New Strategies to Defeat Lakurawa Terror Group

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, revealed that an intensified deployment of troops and provision of additional military equipment would be crucial to overpowering the group and restoring security in affected regions.

Lakurawa’s recent violent activities in Mera, Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State, led to the tragic deaths of 15 individuals and the rustling of around 100 cattle. In response, Minister Badaru assured that the government is implementing targeted strategies to neutralize the group and prevent further violence.

Speaking with BBC Hausa Service, Badaru highlighted the federal government’s commitment to ending the threat posed by Lakurawa. “The Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, and Chief of Air Staff have mapped out comprehensive strategies,” he said. “With additional troops and equipment in place, we are determined to decimate this group and put an end to this security challenge, God willing.”

The Minister emphasized that significant successes have been achieved in recent months against terrorist activities in Nigeria, noting that ongoing efforts are yielding results. “While the terrorists adjust their tactics, we are also adapting and advancing our strategies to stay ahead,” he stated.

Badaru also assured Nigerians that proactive measures are being taken to prevent the spread of Lakurawa’s influence to other states. The government is calling on citizens for continued support and prayers to ensure that peace and stability are fully restored across the nation.
