CURRENT REPORT BLOG The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria have officially announced an indefinite strike scheduled to commence on October 3. During a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, September 26, NLC President Joe Ajaero and TUC representative Festus Osifo advised Nigerians to prepare by stocking up on essential food items as the strike is expected to disrupt economic operations across the nation.
As stated in the joint statement read by the two Presidents, the decision to initiate an indefinite strike is attributed to the government’s perceived lack of responsiveness to the challenges faced by Nigerians following the removal of the petrol subsidy. Additionally, the government has been criticized for not demonstrating a proactive approach and a clear unwillingness to implement relief measures.
