CurrentReport Blog The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has firmly denied a viral video that alleges it sold adulterated Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in bottles and jerrycans. The video, which shows a dark liquid purportedly purchased from an NNPCL outlet at Keffi Flyover, has sparked concern among consumers.
Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, addressed the issue on Thursday, stating that the claim is baseless. According to Soneye, NNPCL conducted thorough spot checks at all its retail outlets and found no evidence to support the allegation. He clarified that NNPCL does not dispense fuel in bottles or jerrycans, as seen in the video, and that the company adheres to strict quality control standards to ensure the safety and reliability of its products.
“The NNPCL wishes to state that the product was not, and could not have been bought from any NNPC retail outlet,” Soneye emphasized. He assured that NNPCL stations nationwide uphold rigorous inspection and calibration processes, guaranteeing accurate pump integrity and consistent product quality.
Soneye urged the public to disregard the “spurious claims” and to be cautious of “selfish and unpatriotic elements” spreading misinformation. NNPCL remains committed to providing Nigerians with high-quality petroleum products and maintaining consumer trust across its retail outlets nationwide.
