CurrentReport Blog The North Central All Progressive Congress (APC) Forum has strongly condemned the endorsement of Abdullahi Ganduje, the embattled national chairman of the party, by the Chairman of the North Central Governors’ Forum and Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.
In a statement delivered on Saturday in Jos, Plateau State, the Forum’s Chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, criticized Governor Sule’s recent visit to the APC secretariat in Abuja, where he pledged his support for Ganduje. Zazzaga accused Sule of acting out of selfish interests rather than for the benefit of the North Central region, the APC, or President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Zazzaga highlighted that the party stakeholders from the North Central region are advocating for the return of the National Chairmanship position to their region following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu. Adamu, who hails from the same state as Governor Sule, stepped down from his position, leaving the chairmanship post vacant. Zazzaga described Sule’s endorsement of Ganduje as “insensitive and mischievous,” labeling it a betrayal of the entire North Central region.
Zazzaga, who also served on the Presidential Campaign Council during the last election, pointed out that Sule had initially opposed President Tinubu’s candidacy. He suggested that Sule’s actions now reflect a continued disregard for the party’s interests, extending even to his governance in Nasarawa State.
Furthermore, Zazzaga criticized Governor Sule’s record, questioning his contributions to the APC and his effectiveness as a leader in Nasarawa State. He argued that Sule’s actions demonstrate a lack of understanding of the party’s progressive ideology and a failure to support the growth and success of the APC.
Zazzaga called on other North Central governors to distance themselves from Sule’s endorsement of Ganduje, arguing that it was motivated by personal gain rather than the region’s interests. He also raised concerns about the potential legal and political liabilities associated with Ganduje’s continued leadership of the APC.
The North Central APC Forum’s strong stance underscores the ongoing tensions within the party, as regional leaders and stakeholders push for equitable representation and leadership within the APC.
