CurrentReport Blog In a bid to cushion the effects of economic hardship in Ogun State, the wife of the state governor, Bamidele Abiodun, has taken a significant step by distributing bags of rice to nearly 50 residents. The beneficiaries of this initiative include women groups, widows, and people living with disabilities, among others.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Abeokuta, Mrs. Abiodun announced that the distribution exercise will continue over the next few weeks. She emphasized the importance of supporting the most vulnerable members of society, noting that empowering women is particularly crucial due to the vital roles they play both at home and in the wider community.

Mrs. Abiodun also highlighted that the First Lady of the Federation, Oluremi Tinubu, had generously donated bags of rice to all 36 states in Nigeria. This donation was made in response to the current economic challenges faced by many Nigerians.

“It is crucial to support the most vulnerable because they form an important part of society. Empowering women too is a must, due to the critical roles they play at home and in society,” Mrs. Abiodun stated. “We will identify more groups that require urgent intervention and do our best to provide relief materials for them. This gesture will not only strengthen the economy, but it will promote peace and stability within communities.”

Representatives of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the kind gesture from Mrs. Tinubu and Mrs. Abiodun. They thanked them for extending the food item to the less privileged in the state, acknowledging the positive impact this support would have on their lives.
