According to Pastor Giwa, his boss questioned his decision multiple times, asking if he was sure about what he was doing. However, the pastor stood firm in his conviction and reiterated that his life’s purpose was to serve God, rather than chase after earthly wealth. “I wanted to be in God’s presence for 24 hours a day,” he said, expressing his determination to prioritize his faith above everything else.
The pastor further explained that while he was making a significant income, he felt an even greater calling that demanded his attention. “If you compare how much I earned weekly, it’s more than five million naira,” he confessed. Yet, the allure of material wealth was not enough to keep him from his true mission. Pastor Giwa explained that he ignored the comforts of his high-paying job to follow his spiritual path, putting his trust in God.
Addressing his congregation, Pastor Giwa cautioned them against the pursuit of wealth as the ultimate goal in life. He warned that those who live solely for financial gain make a grave mistake. “If you think the purpose of coming to this world is to acquire wealth, you have made a grievous mistake,” he said, urging his followers to focus on their relationship with God. He drew inspiration from the Bible, citing the example of Abraham, who gave everything he had to God in faith and was subsequently blessed in return.
