Police Has Identified Officer in Viral Video Demanding Bribe in Lagos

CURRENT REPORT BLOG The Lagos State Police Command says they have been able to pinpoint the officer captured on a viral video demanding bribe from a motorist.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the officer was named as ASP Luka Bashayi.

According to the PPRO, the responsible officer has been found, and an investigation has been launched.

“We will not gloss over this. He is ASP Luka Bashayi, serving at Ogudu Area Command.

“The Lagos Police Complaint Unit, CRU, has commenced actions on this,” he said.

On Saturday, a video of the policeman requesting money from a driver went viral.

The driver was told by the police that he would not be allowed to leave until he gave him the requested bribe.

Before letting the driver go, he called out his bank account information so that he could send the money.

He said to the motorist, “Do sharp sharp and go now, if not, I will do my job.”
