CURRENT REPORT BLOG The Presidency announced on Friday that France is set to return $150 million looted by former Nigerian military leader, General Sani Abacha. President Bola Tinubu commended France for the decision during a meeting with the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna. President Tinubu expressed appreciation for France’s cooperation in recovering Nigeria’s funds and emphasized the judicious use of the returned money for development. Additionally, the President welcomed increased collaboration between the two countries in areas such as climate change, economic integration, education, and culture. The French minister conveyed President Emmanuel Macron’s goodwill and extended an invitation to President Tinubu to attend the Paris Peace Forum. The repatriation of the Abacha loot followed the completion of legal processes, and President Tinubu’s leadership in ECOWAS was commended by the French minister.
