CurrentReport Blog The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu is expected to make a final decision on the new national minimum wage this Thursday. The decision will follow a crucial meeting with the organized Labour unions.
In a statement, Idris confirmed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has been actively deliberating on the national minimum wage. The President, committed to ensuring fair compensation for workers, is set to engage with Labour representatives this week before finalizing the proposal to be forwarded to the National Assembly.
“The President is not opposed to increasing the national minimum wage,” Idris stated. “However, he is mindful of the potential economic repercussions, particularly the risk of triggering an inflationary trend that could adversely affect the nation’s economy.”
