President Tinubu Appoints Nwakuche Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of Nigerian Correctional Service

CurrentReport Blog President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). The announcement was made in a statement by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board, on Friday, December 15, 2024.

Key Details of the Appointment

Ndidi’s appointment follows the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Comptroller General, Haliru Nababa. His tenure officially begins on December 15, 2024, as directed by the President.

In the statement, President Tinubu commended Ndidi’s qualifications and urged him to leverage his extensive experience to drive reforms within the service.

  • Previous Role: Deputy Controller-General, Training and Staff Development Directorate
  • Honours and Affiliations: Fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and a recipient of the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).

Tinubu’s Expectations

President Tinubu highlighted the importance of the role in ensuring the effectiveness of the Nigerian Correctional Service, urging Ndidi to bring innovation and leadership to his new position.

“The President further enjoined him to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new capacity,” the statement read.
