This commendable act of acknowledging the team’s outstanding performance at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) reflects the nation’s gratitude for their dedication and resilience on the field. Moreover, President Tinubu’s announcement of rewarding the team with flats in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and parcels of land amplifies the significance of their achievement and underscores the value of their contributions to Nigerian sports history.

During a ceremony held at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu warmly received the players and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Led by the esteemed Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, the delegation presented a united front, reflecting the spirit of unity and camaraderie fostered by the Super Eagles throughout their AFCON campaign.

The Super Eagles’ remarkable journey in the AFCON culminated in a well-deserved runner-up finish, a testament to their skill, determination, and teamwork. In the wake of the final match against Cote d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles narrowly missed clinching the championship, player Alex Iwobi faced unwarranted cyber attacks.

President Tinubu’s encouragement to Nigerians to remain optimistic and celebrate the team’s accomplishments highlights the importance of unity and support, especially during challenging times.
