During the meeting, Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to advancing partnership agreements with the UK, focusing on areas that impact citizens’ well-being, such as arts, culture, trade, and security.
Expressing appreciation for the UK’s relationship with Nigeria, Tinubu urged Britain to increase its support for conflict resolution in Africa, highlighting security challenges in West Africa and the humanitarian crisis in Sudan. He noted, “Britain should do more to bring peace and stability to that part of Africa.”
Lammy’s visit to Nigeria marks the start of consultations to strengthen UK-Africa relations. He emphasized the UK’s support for Nigeria’s recent economic reforms aimed at long-term economic growth.
