New Nominees to Strengthen CCB Leadership
The three nominees are:
- Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle (Oyo State)
- Justice Ibrahim Buba, retired judge of the Federal High Court
- Kennedy Ikpeme (Cross River State)
These appointments aim to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Bureau, which plays a vital role in promoting public service integrity and enforcing ethical standards in Nigeria.
About the Code of Conduct Bureau
Established in 1979, the Code of Conduct Bureau is Nigeria’s foremost anti-corruption agency, tasked with ensuring compliance with ethical conduct among public officials. The Bureau operates with a 10-member board, which oversees its strategic initiatives.
In October 2024, President Tinubu swore in the current chairman of the board, Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello. The board now includes:
- Barr. Muritala Aliyu Kankia
- Hon. E. J. Agbomayinma
- Barr. Ben Umeano
- Prof. Juwayriyya Badamasiuy
- Mr. Bulus I. Zephaniah
- Hon. Abdulsalam Taofiq Olawale
Senate’s Role in Confirmation
The nominees are expected to undergo Senate confirmation before officially joining the Bureau. This development is part of President Tinubu’s broader efforts to strengthen anti-corruption frameworks in Nigeria.
