Rema, who was in Benin City for the Edo@33 celebration, performed at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 6,000-capacity Edo Dome and also headlined a musical concert at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, following an invitation from the state government. During his visit, the musician took the opportunity to express his deep gratitude to the Christ Embassy Church, which he credits for supporting his family during a challenging period in his childhood.

Recalling the church’s impact on his life, Rema shared, “When I was eight years old, after losing my dad, we felt lost and abandoned. All we had was taken from us, and we felt alone. But the pastors of this church, Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, opened a shop for my mum, which she used to take care of us.”

In a heartfelt gesture, Rema pledged N40 million towards the church’s infrastructural development, N20 million to the Rhapsody of Realities publication, and N25 million to support the teen church, from which he emerged. Additionally, he committed N20 million to assist widows in attendance at the service.
