CurrentReport Blog Nigerian international music sensation, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made a significant donation of N150 million to Christ Embassy Church, Benin City, Edo State. The Edo-born artist made this generous contribution during a thanksgiving service at the church, located at Erediauwa Street off Ekenwa Road.
Rema, who was in Benin City for the Edo@33 celebration, performed at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 6,000-capacity Edo Dome and also headlined a musical concert at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, following an invitation from the state government. Recalling the church’s impact on his life, Rema shared, “When I was eight years old, after losing my dad, we felt lost and abandoned. All we had was taken from us, and we felt alone. But the pastors of this church, Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, opened a shop for my mum, which she used to take care of us.”
In a heartfelt gesture, Rema pledged N40 million towards the church’s infrastructural development, N20 million to the Rhapsody of Realities publication, and N25 million to support the teen church, from which he emerged.
