This decision comes amidst heightened debate and controversy surrounding Ningi’s claims regarding the 2024 appropriation bill, accusing the Senate of padding it to the tune of N3.7 trillion.

The suspension, initially proposed for a three-month period, was put forward following a motion by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim.

However, there were dissenting voices within the Senate, advocating for an extended suspension lasting six months. The deliberation culminated in the decision to suspend Ningi for alleged misconduct and his refusal to retract or apologize for his statements.
