CurrentReport Blog In a recent post on X, Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has urged the Nigerian government to immediately release Chukwu Sunday Obasi, who has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) since March 2021. Ejimakor condemned the prolonged detention of Obasi, emphasizing that efforts by his legal team to secure his release have been unsuccessful.

Ejimakor criticized the Nigerian government for continuing to persecute Igbos who are perceived to be fighting for justice on behalf of the Igbo people. He demanded that the federal government take action and direct its security agencies to halt the unjust treatment of individuals like Obasi.

“CHUKWU SUNDAY OBASI has been detained by DSS since March 2021 without trial. Efforts by lawyers have proved futile. The Federal Government should direct its security agencies to halt this persecution of Igbos who are perceived to be fighting for justice for Ndigbo. Free him, now,” Ejimakor stated.

This call comes amid ongoing concerns about the treatment of individuals associated with the Biafran cause and the continued detention of individuals without trial, sparking further debates around justice and human rights in Nigeria.
