These deaths have raised concerns about potential links to pre-existing health conditions, extended fasting, poor dietary habits, and limited awareness of heart health issues in India. In response, the state government has called for increased ambulance availability and readiness at community health centers near Garba venues.
Cardiologist Anurag Mehrotra suggested that these heart attacks among teenage Garba dancers might result from a lack of physical activity among Indian youth and the sudden exposure to high-energy exercise.
