The Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, has upheld the election of Francis Nwifuru as the duly elected governor of Ebonyi State in the governorship election held on March 18.
Presided over by Justice Jummai Sankey, the three-member panel unanimously dismissed the appeal lodged by Chukwuma Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday. The panel effectively resolved all five issues raised against the appellant and rejected the appeal, citing its lack of merit.
Justice Sankey, delivering the lead judgment, emphasized that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate lacked the legal standing to interfere in the internal affairs of the All Progressives Congress concerning the nomination of candidates.
