CURRENT REPORT BLOG The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared significant progress in the country’s HIV/AIDS response, asserting that Nigeria is on track to eliminate the disease by 2030. Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made this announcement during a media conference marking the 2023 World AIDS Day. The minister unveiled key policy documents focused on strengthening the existing framework for combating HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, and Sexually Transmitted Infections, emphasizing the pivotal role of communities in driving change and progress

In addition to surpassing 90% HIV treatment coverage, the government disclosed the unveiling of vital policy documents during the conference. These documents, addressing various aspects of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, reflect the country’s commitment to eradicating the disease. Despite these advancements, challenges persist, including the identification of People Living with HIV (PLHIV), particularly children, underlining the need for continued efforts in pediatric case finding and community empowerment.
