They Are On The Run”-Sowore Says After Escorting Corper Who Called Tinubu “Terrible” To NYSC Office.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore on Monday accompanied a National Youth Service Corps member, Ushie Rita Uguamaye to the Eti-Osa Local Government Inspector office in Lagos following reported threats from an NYSC official.

Sowore, alongside legal representatives including Festus Ogun, Yinka Oyesomi, and Justice Ojienoh, escorted Uguamaye to the NYSC office as she had been scheduled to appear before the LGI.

However, the NYSC official in question was notably absent throughout their visit.

“We arrived at the Eti-Osa LGI offices of the @officialnyscng with youth Corper Ushie Rita Uguamaye in Lagos. She was scheduled to appear before the LGI today, and we escorted her to their offices with attorneys,” Sowore tweeted. “But the LGI official had absconded, failing to show up throughout our stay.

The absence of the official raised further questions about the allegations against them.

Although the specific details of the threats remain unclear, the situation has sparked concerns over the treatment of corps members within the scheme.

NYSC authorities have yet to respond to the development. Meanwhile, Sowore and his legal team have vowed to ensure that Uguamaye’s rights are protected, calling for accountability from NYSC officials.

The incident has gained traction online, with many Nigerians expressing solidarity with the corps member and demanding transparency from the NYSC leadership. It remains to be seen what actions, if any, will be taken by the agency to address the concerns raisedScreenshot 20250317 1504101742220204369
