CurretReport Blog In the wake of President Bola Tinubu’s brief slip while boarding a parade vehicle during the June 12 Democracy Day celebration in Abuja, his Special Adviser on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has sought to allay any concerns.
Videos circulated widely on social media show President Tinubu momentarily losing his footing as he stepped into the vehicle at Eagles Square. However, Olusegun quickly addressed the incident, downplaying its significance.
“Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep,” Olusegun stated via his verified X handle on Wednesday. He emphasized, “He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”
Despite the brief moment of imbalance, President Tinubu swiftly regained his footing and continued with the official proceedings without further incident. The event at Eagles Square was a centerpiece of the national celebrations commemorating Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
Democracy Day marks the anniversary of the annulled June 12, 1993, presidential election, widely considered one of the freest and fairest in Nigeria’s history. This year’s celebrations were no different, as they showcased the country’s commitment to democratic governance.
