CurrentReport Blog President Donald Trump announced on Monday that U.S. airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen have resulted in the elimination of several key leaders and fighters, as part of a broader military campaign aimed at neutralizing the threat posed by the Iran-backed group. In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized the ongoing and relentless strikes, noting that the Houthis’ capabilities—particularly their threats to shipping and regional stability—are rapidly diminishing.
Trump’s Strong Warning to Houthis
Trump reaffirmed that military action in Yemen would persist until all attacks on U.S. interests cease. He described the Houthis as “terrorists,” reiterating the United States’ determination to continue targeting the group until they no longer pose a danger to the freedom of navigation in the region. “The choice for the Houthis is clear: stop shooting at U.S. ships, and we will stop shooting at you,” Trump stated.
The President also warned that the U.S. military would not back down, stating, “We have only just begun, and the real pain is yet to come, for both the Houthis and their sponsors in Iran.”
Recent U.S. Strikes and Casualties
Trump’s comments follow recent U.S. airstrikes in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, where at least three people were killed and 12 others wounded during Monday’s operation. The strikes targeted Houthi positions, and similar airstrikes occurred earlier on Friday, marking a significant escalation of U.S. involvement since the campaign began on March 15.
The United States has been actively engaging the Houthis in an effort to curb their influence in the region, particularly their ability to disrupt shipping lanes crucial to global trade. As the airstrikes continue, the U.S. remains committed to ensuring the safety of American interests in the Middle East.
