CurrentReport Blog Nollywood veteran Zack Orji recently shared a harrowing ordeal he faced before undergoing life-saving brain surgeries. The actor, known for his memorable roles in the Nigerian film industry, disclosed his battle with amnesia and the dramatic events that led to his surgeries in a recent interview with Channels TV.
Orji recounted how he collapsed in his bathroom, leading to a five-and-a-half-hour coma before help arrived. His colleagues Benedict Johnson and Labista played pivotal roles in rushing him to the hospital, where he underwent two critical brain surgeries. The first surgery took place on New Year’s Day, followed by a second procedure prompted by the discovery of a residual blood clot a month later.
Before the surgeries, Orji experienced a troubling bout of amnesia. He admitted to being unable to recognize people, even those who visited him in the hospital. It was his wife who filled in the gaps, informing him of the visitors he couldn’t remember encountering. However, a remarkable turnaround occurred post-surgery when Orji regained his faculties. His first question after waking from surgery was a clear indicator of his recovery, as he enthusiastically greeted everyone with a cheerful “Happy New Year.”
