CurrentReport Blog Yobe State’s Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has reported that more than 5,000 households across 208 communities in 16 local government areas have been impacted by severe flooding and windstorms in 2024. The alarming figures were shared on the agency’s official Facebook page on Wednesday, covering the period from April 2024 to date.
Among the most affected areas are Karasuwa, Yusufari, Machina, and Nguru local government areas, where the recent flood disaster has caused significant damage. In response, SEMA has conducted a rapid needs assessment to evaluate the immediate requirements of the victims, adhering to emergency management best practices.
SEMA has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the gaps in emergency response and ensuring that those affected receive the necessary protection and support. The agency emphasized that ongoing validation efforts are in place to deliver immediate needs and support, in line with available resources, as directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
