Zamfara LG Polls: PDP Sweeps Kaura Namoda and Birinin Magaji as ZASIEC Declares Results

CurrentReport Blog The Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) has announced the results of the local government elections in Kaura Namoda and Birinin Magaji, declaring the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) victorious in both areas.

Kaura Namoda Results

In Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, the PDP’s candidate, Mannie Mua’zu Haidara, a former Commissioner of Information, won decisively with over 71,000 votes. The Returning Officer, Associate Professor Yusuf Kaura, described the election as free, fair, and widely accepted by all political parties contesting across the 11 wards in the local government.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), which boycotted the election, managed to secure 813 votes in the area.

Birinin Magaji Results

Similarly, in Birinin Magaji Local Government Area, the PDP dominated with over 57,000 votes. Despite its non-participation, the APC garnered 815 votes in the election, while 742 votes were declared invalid, according to Returning Officer Idris Gusau.

PDP Sweeps Zamfara State Elections

ZASIEC Chairman, Bala Aliyu Gusau, confirmed the PDP’s comprehensive victory across all local government areas in the state. He stated that the party complied with legal requirements and scored the highest votes in every contest.

Following the declaration, Certificates of Return were issued to all elected chairmen on the PDP platform, marking a significant triumph for the ruling party in Zamfara State.

APC’s Presence Despite Boycott

Notably, despite boycotting the elections, the APC still received votes in both Kaura Namoda and Birinin Magaji, a development that has sparked discussions about the party’s influence in the state.
